Delete your account

Draft, last updated 2026-10-26. Not yet reviewed; pending review before launch.

You can delete your TestersGuild account at any time. Sign-in is by Google only, so there is no password to reset: deleting removes the account we keep for your Google sign-in and the personal data attached to it. This page is the one to give Google Play as the account deletion link for the TestersGuild app.

In the app (fastest)

  1. Open TestersGuild and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Choose Delete my account. The screen says what is deleted, what is kept and why, and what leaving your cohort costs you right now.
  3. Confirm. You see a result screen and are signed out. It takes effect immediately.

Without the app, by email

If you no longer have the app or your phone, write to hello@testersguild.dev from the email address of the account (the Google account you sign in with), saying you want the account deleted.

  1. We reply to that address to check the request is yours. Only an answer from the account’s own address counts: we do not delete accounts on a request from any other address, and we never ask for a password, because we do not have one.
  2. An operator then deletes the account by hand, exactly as the app would, and writes back to say it is done. We act on a verified request within 14 days.
  3. The address you wrote from is stored only until the request is handled, then erased. The record of the request keeps no email.

If you only ever left your email on our waiting list, write from that address and we will erase that row; there is no account to delete. The “Remove my email” link shown right after sign-up also does it at once.

What deleting costs you

  • If you are in a cohort that is still forming or in its install phase, you leave and your stake comes back as credit, and the credit goes with the account.
  • If your cohort is running, leaving costs the whole stake ($15.00), exactly as leaving from the Cohort tab does, because the other members are testing your app and you are testing theirs. The app shows this before you confirm. If the cohort moves on while you are reading, the app asks you to confirm again at the new cost.
  • Credit has no cash value and cannot be paid out, so whatever credit is left is discarded with the account.
  • If a Google Play purchase is not settled (a paid second cohort that is still running or waiting for a refund, credit owed after a refund, or a refund dispute still open), we cannot delete yet. The app tells you what is open. Let it finish or ask for the refund, then delete.
  • Operators’ own accounts are removed by another operator after the operator role is taken away first.

What is deleted

  • Your email address, your name and your Google account identifier. The account row stays as an anonymous placeholder with none of these.
  • Your device identifiers: the hashed Android ID, the random install key, and the Play Integrity results we recorded for you.
  • Your push-notification token and your notification settings, and every sign-in session.
  • Your inbox messages.
  • The text of the feedback notes you wrote about other people’s apps.
  • The name and icon we stored for your apps, your link to a Play developer account if you made one, and your permission for us to change your app’s Google Group.
  • Your address on the waiting list, if it is the account’s email.

What is kept, and why

  • The credit ledger. It is append-only and has to balance, so the rows stay. After deletion they are linked only to an anonymous account number, not to you.
  • Purchase records (the Google Play order, what was bought, the amount, whether it was refunded). We keep them to handle refunds and disputes and for tax records. We keep them only as long as refunds, disputes and tax rules require.
  • Cohort history with no name or email: that a member took part, the stake outcome, check-in counts and whether apps were installed. Other members’ results and the reports app owners received depend on it.
  • The star ratings on notes you wrote (the text is erased), so that app owners’ averages do not change behind their back.
  • The package name of apps you registered, and the record that starter credit was given for it, so the same app cannot claim starter credit twice.
  • Our internal audit log of what operators did, and any strikes, no-shows or bans, without personal details.
  • If your account was banned, a one-way hash of your Google account identifier, so deleting the account does not lift the ban. It cannot be turned back into your account number. We keep it for as long as the ban is in force.

After deleting

You can sign in with the same Google account again later, but it starts as a brand-new account with no history and no credit. Starter credit is not given again for an app that already received it.
